2023 RATE INCREASE: after many years without putting up our rates, the current energy, inflation and now mortgage interest rate crisis means we have no other option but to raise our rates for 2023. It's this, or another London digs location will have to close. We're all-too aware your touring rates and per diems are being squeezed too, but hope this fair compromise can keep these digs rooms available.
SMOKING POLICY: smoking is permitted in the garden, but not in the house, please.
We are in Mitcham, between Colliers Wood and delightful Wimbledon with all it has to offer.
THEATRES:
New Wimbledon Theatre: short bus ride or appx 30mins walk (NOTE: previous guests working at the theatre have been happily walking to the theatre rather than using the bus). We are also 8 mins walk from Phipps Bridge Tram Stop, Alight at Merton Park Tram Stop, walk up to and turn right on to Kingston Rd, then second left is Russell Road. New Wimbledon Theatre is at the top of Russell Road.
WEST END:
All of London's Theatreland is just 26mins by tube on the Northern Line from Colliers Wood to Leicester Square. The station is just 10mins walk down a well-lit and direct main road.
National Theatre and South Bank: 22 mins Northern Line.
Also direct night buses to Colliers Wood Stn from Trafalgar Sq.
NEAREST GYM: Jetts Colliers Wood, 5 mins walk, others within easy walk Nuffield Health Merton and The Gym Colliers Wood.
NEAREST MAJOR SUPERMARKET: Sainsbury's hypermarket, 5 mins walk, late opening. Nearby Marks & Spencer Food Hall, Aldi, Lidl, Co-op.
NEAREST LOCAL STORE: top corner of our road, one late opening.
YOUR HOSTS: Rob, formerly a professional actor and producer, now principally a photographer and designer (equally used to the dance world). I live with my partner Iain, who works in the Emergency Services. Friendly, relaxed and we'll always try to help in an environment where the particular demands of your profession are well understood from my own long experience. And as a long established couple ourselves, 100 % Gay Friendly, obviously!
PETS: Elderly rescue cat Minnie also lives in the house. A Domestic Shorthair cat, she does not typically cause any allergy issues and is not allowed in the guest rooms.
THE AREA: quiet, residential streets, river walks accessible from opposite street on the Wandle and leading to National Trust Morden Hall Park, short bus ride to Wimbledon town centre with a wealth of fantastic shopping, dizzying array of restaurants cafes and bars, oh-so-chic Wimbledon Village a short bus ride with designer boutiques and fine dining, and one of London's greatest open spaces, Wimbledon Common (1,100 acres), And of course, if you like tennis…
