21a - The Plaice is a uniquely styled and tasteful self contained basement apartment of a beautiful 4 storey Victorian town house. Situated between Tynemouth and North Shields The Plaice is a mere 10 minute walk to two metro stations and a mile from Whitley Bay or two stops on the metro.
Tynemouth Front Street, North Shields town centre, the Fish Quay and the beach are also all a short walk away.
The Tyne Tunnel to the A1 N&South motorway is a 7 min drive and DFDS ferry to Holland is a 10 min drive away.
The space
The Plaice boasts a spacious open plan kitchen and living room area, one large double bedroom with a king size bed, one bathroom and two outdoor patios (front and back).
The apartment is freshly refurbished and decorated lovingly with vintage and antique finds from all over the North East. A major feature of the open plan kitchen and living area is a beautiful well stocked aquarium so you can enjoy watching our fishy friends whilst you eat at the breakfast bar, or chill in the cosy living area.
The apartment is flooded with light thanks to the large characterful stone mullion bay window that can also be used as a seating area. A stable style front door also allows you to enjoy the fresh sea air whilst cooking or pottering.
We provide our guests with all the essentials such as quality linen and towels, wifi, a private laundry room with a washer/dryer, dishwasher and ample clothing storage.
In the living room there is a flatscreen TV equipped with an Amazon Firestick and all the essential streaming services.
The property has a multi fuel wood burner with logs etc supplied by us should you fancy a cosy night in.
The whole property is fitted with underfloor heating as well as radiators for your ultimate comfort and luxury.
The bathroom is state of the art with the highest quality RAK fittings as well as a bluetooth mirror so you can play your tunes whilst enjoying the wet room style power shower.
Guest access
There is free parking on the street with ample room for larger vehicles.
Other things to note
We live close by, so can be on hand if required.
Out front of the property there is a small private deck where you are welcome to soak up the morning sun with a coffee in hand!
Along with the bijou rear patio connected off the bedroom, there is also access to a larger deck that belongs to the owners of the upstairs house. We kindly ask you to refrain from using this deck with respect to your neighbours as it is their private outdoor space.
The apartment is designed for two guests and not to be used for social gatherings and parties. We also ask you to be mindful of noise in the evenings when using your patio.
