‘The Hide’ is a spacious garden room hidden at the back of a wildlife garden.
It has large light windows, at the same time as enjoying a secluded position amongst the trees, where you can watch the birds.
Decorated in a simple modern way, with some choice vintage furniture, which allows for different uses, it is a great place to sit and relax and you’ll find it hard to believe you’re in the city. There is a desk and Wi-Fi for work, if needed, or sofa/sofa-bed to relax.
The guest’s bathroom, rather unusually, is located outside, a short walk through the garden towards the house. It is a new, bright, compact and modern bathroom, with shower, that you will have all to yourself. There is also access to the washing machine next door to the bathroom.
Guests will need to be aware that we have a dog (Collie cross) who can be quite excitable with new guests. When she’s not out and about, she is either lying in the kitchen or exploring the garden. Although hard, she behaves better when she’s ignored 😊
The kitchen is in the main house and is a large, creative and comfortable space, which is often filled with the noise of family life. We welcome people to share and enjoy this space.
‘The Hide’ is slightly unconventional in its setting. If you don’t mind walking through the garden to your bathroom, you have an independent space, in a calm location for a city.
We enjoy gardening naturally and we are always looking at ways to make the garden as wildlife-friendly as possible. We have fruit trees, a frog pond and log piles and if you’re lucky in summer the odd slow worm.
We have recently updated the garden with a green house and are on the way to creating a food forest garden, as growing different foods is a particular interest. The garden changes throughout the year, taking on a very different feel depending on the season. Birds are a particular interest, with spring and summer visits from starlings and their young. We can sometimes have visits from foxes, who have been known to nest under the hide in early spring.
We live up hill from town which means we have beautiful views of Bristol city and Clifton suspension bridge. There are fantastic views of these from the park opposite our house and in spring and summer the sky can have Bristol’s famous Hot air balloons drifting over the park.
We look forward to sharing our home and garden with other creative people.
