Living with Host
Big en-suite room, powerful Aqualisa electric shower with remote, leather recliner chair, footstool, desk, black-out blind, subdued lighting, suitcase rack, electric fan or heater - in detached house, built 1991 in quiet road beside Loughton Valley Park. This is a Potton house - welcome to posts and beams, not a hazard, headroom for six-footers.
Quiet area: muted traffic murmur from MK’s grid roads but won't disturb you; birdsong still audible.
I’ve made a folder with helpful information, not a rule book, just to help you get familiar with things.
I have a garden flanked by mature trees with a small private dell lurking quietly on the perimeter. There is a summerhouse with verandah and permanent seating - ideal for quiet reflection - or those who smoke/vape.
Use my air fryer/microwave/hob/make tea/coffee in the kitchen: plus use basics, eg olive oil etc. Home-made muesli for breakfast. Relax in dining/sitting area.
In what little free time you have, please just chill.
Guest Parking
Even if you have a huge big car, there is room for two cars in my drive. One is mine, although sad to say ‘was’ should be substituted for ‘is.’ There is therefore plenty of room for you to park and, even if I have a relative with me during your stay, I guarantee that both vehicles will fit into the space.
My road has a parking restriction from 9.00 [REMOVED] to 10.00 [REMOVED] and 5.00 [REMOVED] to 6.00 [REMOVED] Mondays to Saturdays. That’s because it is so near to the Station that it had been used almost as a station car park. Not any more. The strange word REMOVED keeps appearing. I can’t take it out. Ignore. It means mornings nine to ten, and evenings five to six.
The Area and Transport
You are in Milton Keynes of course, but it was built among 7 existing villages. Loughton (Domesday Book, 1085, Lugton) is one. Two miles from MK Theatre, Lucy Lane is 10-min walk from Milton Keynes Rail Station (Aldi halfway) where there are two Gyms for the fit-minded. Then 20-min walk, or frequent buses to the city centre/theatreland - 8-min bus ride. And there are electric bikes/scooters: if you walk to the station. you will have to navigate round them. The theatre has its own parking area but I believe they can be iffy as to who uses it. There is an online council map (copy in your room) indicating parking and Guests have found no-payment spots opposite Xscape near the theatre. Look for Albion Place. Some of my guests just walk to the theatre and back, stopping at Wetherspoons, particularly returning.
Lucy Lane is in Loughton Valley Park - you’re one minute from following Loughton Brook up or downstream.
I regularly see swans, grebes, herons, coots and moorhens.

This space is shared with 1 Host.
Lots of drawer and cupboard space for your clothes and possessions.
Store your suitcases etc in small Bene Room, off your Bedroom. It gives you more space.
In summer there is an electric fan in your room.
In winter, you have an electric fan heater because the central heating goes off in the evening.
In winter, I can put a hot water bottle in your bed ready for your return.
Shared kitchen.
There are two sitting areas, and sometimes I might want privacy. The big sitting room is for my relaxation. The dining area has two recliner chairs in the window - please feel free to relax here.
I will lay the breakfast table for you each evening ready for the next day - home-made Muesli.
Please use my teas and coffees, and also use my basic kitchen ingredients like oils, salt, pepper etc if you are preparing meals. You can freeze if you batch cook.
I prefer you not to use the big Oven, I avoid it as it EATS electricity. Instead, use the Grill, Air Fryer, and Microwave.
Excluded Facilities
Family bathroom is for me, and my family when they occasionally come to stay for a few days.
I'm the one who uses the washing machine. But your washing (minus heavy fleeces) I will happily keep up to date for you for £10 per week. You can start your next venue with a set of clean clothes.

I leave the front door outside light on for you. And the inside porch light. Switch off both outside and inside lights when you return at night. And pop the chain on.
Smoke outside on verandah in back garden. Ashtray is provided.
If you leave your suitcase open on the floor, I might trip over it. There is a room known as the Bene Room off your bedroom where you can store your big case. That might also help you feel that you are not living out of your suitcase. Masses of drawer/wardrobe space in your room.
Use my recycling bins.

Please eat your meals in the dining room - not in bedroom.
I’ve got two sitting rooms. Sometimes I might want privacy.

Had a wonderful week here. The area is lovely and quiet, an easy walk to the gym. Shiela was so welcoming and friendly, and I had everything I needed. Room and bathroom were super clean, tidy and comfortable. Safe parking on the driveway too.

Enjoyed your stay, Stefy.
Glad it worked well for you.
What a truly wonderful stay. Sheila was an incredible host - kind, considerate, and an absolute joy. From the moment I arrived, the house felt like a true home away from home, with everything you could possibly need for your stay. The thoughtful touches, including homemade granola and a tin of biscuits in your en-suite room made it extra special. The location was ideal - a 30 min walk to the theatre and felt safe even at night. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it! 😊

I'm humbled. You were a treat. Thanks for choosing me!
Sheila is an amazing and helpful hosts. The house is very tidy and the room is spacious and clean. The property is located in a beautiful area with lots of greenery. Shops and the gym are a short walk away and the theatre is easily accessible via bus or taxi. I also slept very well as the area is nice and quiet. I would definitely stay here again!

I couldn't ask for anything more. Pleasure to host you, Joshua!
Had a wonderful time staying at Shiela’s home away from home. Shiela’s attention to detail when it comes to making her guests comfortable and attended to was top notch. Charming house, comfy bed, great communication and she even offered me breakfast! Would definitely stay again with Shiela once I am back in MK.
Tip: Take the Lime bike to easily get to the theatre or just getting around MK.

Thank you, Ali. Appreciate. Was good to host you!
Such a lovely host and home. A very comfortable stay. The walk to the theatre is about 30/40mins ( dependent on walking pace) and is a direct route.10mins walk from train station. My experience of getting an uber was easy.

Thank you, Sharlene. I enjoyed having you to stay and would be delighted to have you as my guest again.
I have carefully checked my entry for Accuracy, and trust that the aimed-for 100% is in place.
Location? Two miles from Theatre but I do hope worth it for the quiet area.
Had a lovely six week stay with Shiela over the Christmas season.
The room is large and comfortable with a lovely en-suite shower room.
I was made to feel very welcome but allowed to have my own privacy and quiet time.
I drove, so I found it very easy and convenient for shops and the theatre.
I would happily stay again and would be pleased to recommend to others. Thanks for having me!!

Thank you for those welcome words. My guests all seem happy but some may be too busy with their next gig, so I appreciate very much when, as you have done, a few kind words are penned.
Shiela's digs were great, always warm, and offered plenty of space to relax + wind down after a very busy week. Shiela is a great host too, and was very helpful throughout my stay.
The house is a good 15 minute cycle from the venue, or a 8-10 min drive depending on the time of day.
Will definitely stay here again when I'm next in MK!

Thank you, Stan. Here’s to the next time!
I don’t have enough words to describe how brilliant my stay was! A beautiful room, stunning bathroom….. b’fast laid out in the morning. It’s like staying in a boutique hotel, BUT by far the best part is Sheila. She is simply wonderful and I will
miss her! It’s about an 8 minute drive to the theatre with off road parking. Bed comfort 10/10. Don’t hesitate to book!

Thanks Lee! You will of course be more than welcome the next time you are on tour here. All best to you and the family.
Couldn’t ask for a better host. Everything was thought through with care. Shiela is really helpful with anything you need and goes out of her way to make sure you’re comfortable. Lovely big room and comfortable bed. Really nice house too. Easy to get to the theatre via bus or lime bike. But equally, Ubers are cheap!
Thanks Shiela!

Happy you were happy!
Shiela is a wonderful, positive person and I got to spend some time with her, as well as meet her family, which was lovely.
The room I stayed in was brilliant. Large room, lots of space, comfortable bed, en-suite with a good shower. All my needs were met and Shiela really showed she cared about the quality of my stay

Aw gee thanks Sam
Shiela was a revelation, I say that as iv been on a year long tour and it was lovely meeting someone who values the amount of work we go through. She goes above and beyond a host. So friendly and gave such useful information about the local area. House is more than walking distance to the theatre but if you don’t always a like bike near by aswell as bus stop. Very safe area and quiet with a huge room with en-suite. Definitely will be staying if around Milton Keynes again and all I can say is TYx

Thank you Ike. It was good to host you.
All the best to you!
You basically have a small section of this beautiful house to yourself. Shiela is extremely accommodating and I wouldn’t look elsewhere if I was to come back to MK.
It’s about 10-15 minutes on a hire scooter, or 8 minutes drive to the free parking next to the theatre (yes there’s free parking if you check the council map).
10/10. Thank you for having me.
