Living with Host
The top floor of a 6 bedroom Edwardian house with 2 double bedrooms, is separated from the family living space by a closed door & staircase.
Both rooms have double beds, bedside tables and ample wardrobe space. Both rooms are also equipped with a table and chairs, kettle and mini fridge on the landing to share.
The top floor has a shared bathroom (for the 2 top rooms only) comprised of shower, toilet and basin. A hairdryer and clothes airer is also provided for the sole use of the two top floor rooms.
Shared use of the main kitchen (with fridge and cupboard space available, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine/tumble d ryer). On road parking with visitor permits.
30-40 minutes walk to the city centre. Local shops 10 minutes walk.
Payment via bank transfer on the day of checking in.

I had a great stay with Ruth and her family. The room was a great size and it didn't feel like I was stepping on their toes which it can sometimes feel in a family home. Exactly what I expected and would 100% stay again!

I had a great stay at Ruth’s. It’s not exactly self contained, but it certainly feels like it as the rooms are at the top of the house with a door separating guests from the rest of the household. Mini fridge and kettle also very useful. My room, the purple room, was perfect and I slept so well every night. I didn’t see much of my hosts but communication was good. 10 minute drive in and easy to park near the theatre. Also free parking round the corner from the house. Highly recommended

I had a wonderful stay with Ruth and Tim, lovely people! nice big room ( which was important to me for a long stay) where I could relax, comfy bed, and between rehearsals and show it was 20-35 min walk from the house to rehearsal rooms and theatre- great for a wee stroll there and home. Felt very welcome and loved having the kettle in the room! thanks for a lovely stay!

My working day consisted of performing in a busy immersive environment, so to be able to climb those stairs and have the quiet space of the purple room was much appreciated. The rest of the house amenities are pretty much at ones disposal if you decide to use them and I felt comfortable doing my own thing. Ruth and Tim are available if you need anything but seemed happy to let me go about my own business with no problems. Very reasonably priced also and lovely free parking around the corner.

Great Digs. Short 5/7 min drive to Derby theatre. Free off street parking. Room was large, double bed was very comfortable, private bathroom was clean & spacious. Ruth was a great host. Great value for money.

These digs are worth well more than what I paid. Ruth and her family were so lovely (even when I had the silliest questions), the rooms are great and it’s a really pleasant 35 minute walk or short drive from Derby theatre. Excellent digs, excellent hosts!

Lovely, friendly host, great communication and info video of your home.
I could walk to the theatre in 30 min stroll or 20min at a pace.
Lovely room and bathroom, very private.
Tea n coffee facilities in the room with a mini fridge on the shared landing with the other room. Great if you don't want to go to the family kitchen in the morning and just make a cuppa.

I had a great stay at Ruth’s home, her and her family were away for the beginning of my stay but her instructions for access and everything in the house were detailed and clear. There was an issues with the shower when I stayed but Ruth was really apologetic, allowed use of the other bathrooms while they were away and got it sorted super quickly on their return home. I would definitely stay here again.

Lovely digs. Ruth and her family were away for much of the time I was there, but left brilliant instructions. The room and facilities were excellent. The only caveat and it's a tiny one is that buses were few and far between after the show and the house is a good half hour's walk. That said, the digs could not be faulted and if you're not in the mood for an Uber and it's nice night the walk is quite pleasant..

Fantastic room! Very warm and welcoming, great communication. Honestly, the best digs I’ve had to date. I was able to fully decompress here after each show! With a bus stop at the end of the road being the cherry on top! Thank you so much for everything!

Splendid digs, in a superb house, lovely people, seven or eight minute drive to Derby Theatre, 30 minute walk. Did I mention they keep chickens? 🐔🍳😁

A wonderful stay! Ruth and Tim are lovely hosts, allowing myself to feel right at home. The rooms are huge and provide a lot of privacy from the rest of the house, alongside the clean bathroom (which is shared with the other available room). Good walking distance to the centre of town and other amenities. Thank you again!

Susie had a great week with Ruth and her family and would highly recommend staying here. There were last minute changes to Susie's call and Ruth was very helpful allowing her to arrive a day early. Easy to get to the Theatre too.

A lovely welcoming family in a lovely house and garden. Frequent buses 5 mins away. Village of Littleover short walk with two nice pubs. Highly recommended.

One of best digs on the tour. Ruth/Tim are welcoming, friendly, warm, generous. I was in the ‘blue’ room, large, bright, extremely comfortable, shared private w/c with another cast (purple room). Easy walk to theatre, 30 minutes, bus is available.

Ruth is a lovely host. The room was exactly as described, warm and pleasant. The house is near enough to town to give you a good walk, or the bus is easy and fast. Absolutely great.

Lovely digs, purple room was cosy but spacious. Having a kettle in the room and mini fridge on the landing was amazing, as was having loads of desk space for working. Lovely shower room too, and easy parking out front. Highly recommend, thank you!

Family home. Lovely house. Warm and relaxed hosts. Blue Room spacious and well appointed with great views. Kitchen well equipped. Good wifi. 20/25 minute walk to Derby Theatre or Rehearsal Rooms. Buses on Burton Rd 2 minutes away. Recommended.

Wonderful digs in a lovely home. We took both rooms at the top of the house which was a private space, sharing our own bathroom. Rooms were spotless & thoughtfully furnished. Ruth was v kind, lending me an iron & board etc. Highly recommended.

Ruth's Digs (Blue Room) are beautiful, bright and spotless!
About a 300 minute walk to the theatre but definitely the very best digs in the area for Derby Theatre.
Did not end up using the cooking facillities so can't comment.
Would highly recommend!

Ruth couldn’t have been kinder and more helpful. I was a week late coming as I had COVID and was coming back from the US. Ruth went over and above and had made me a roast the first night I arrived. Would highly recommend!

Had a lovely stay here! It's a 30-40 min walk to Derby Theatre/rehearsal rooms (which feels v safe). The room was lovely, spacious and quiet. There's a kettle and, on the landing, a v useful mini fridge to share with the other attic room. Recommend!

A comfortable base to call home. Ruth & Tim were communicative & made me feel welcome in their lovely home. The loft room feels separate and private from the family home. Easy route into the town centre, and a peaceful area. (5 week stay)

Although cut short due to theatre closures, I had a lovely couple of days with Ruth and her family. The room was beautifully clean and the family really make you feel at home. I would love to stay again in the future!

This beautiful family home is simply sensational. A large comfortable and spacious attic room. There are two spacious bedrooms with a shared toilet/shower room. The rooms are tastefully decorated and furnished. Perfectly quiet. Highly recommended.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED these digs Ruth and Tim communicates with perfectly. Although they weren’t really there I felt incredibly welcomed in their home. It is about 25/30mins walk to Derby Theatre, fine during the day I got a cab home in the evening.

My room was lovely and very comfortable. Ruth, her husband and lovely family are really nice and easy going. The upstairs is pretty sound proof so I didn’t hear them getting ready for their day.The bus is easy and a cab is about £5.
