after 9 years of welcoming theatre workers we are very popular with many repeat bookings. we are a 4 minute walk to the stage door, a large KS Bedroom ground floor and a large double room on first floor.
The kitchen is fully equipped for a long or short stay, washer/dryer fridge freezer full cooker etc
there is access to the rear year with outside seating
Weekly cleaning is included for stays over 7 days
Guest Parking
Parking is on street outside the property a parking permit for 1 vehicle is provided
The Area and Transport
Violet Cottage is on the very edge of the city centre, 4 mins walk to the stage door. There is a Metro station a 5 minute walk,

The perfect digs for Sunderland Empire Theatre. Grant was very friendly and his communication was speedy and helpful. Short distance to the theatre, two big bedrooms and a well stocked kitchen - what more could you ask for. Would definitely stay again. Thanks Grant!

Ideal for The Empire. Comfy beds, everything you could need in the kitchen, good shower.

For five and a half weeks, we were warm, comfortable, and well serviced. It is literally 4 minutes walk from The Empire and I would have no hesitation in recommending or revisiting.

Fantastic digs! Self contained, high quality, clean, comfortable bed, in quiet area and very close to the theatre. Couldn’t ask for more. Grant was a brilliant host, always in communication if we needed anything. I would definitely stay again!

I loved it here! It’s a short walk to the theatre, it’s easy to keep warm, great kitchen, lovely bathroom, huge bedroom and actually places to put your belongings! Highly recommend.

We stayed at the townhouse as Violet Cottage had already been let. Grant and team made the stay super easy. The townhouse is great, 10 mins walk from the theatre. Super clean and very well equipped. Thanks for having us.

We really enjoyed our stay here for the week. Could have been a tad cleaner on arrival but we had a clean ourselves when we got in so it wasn't a massive deal. Communication with Grant was great, I would absolutely stay here again while on tour :)

I have to dispute you had to clean on arrival unless you have a real cleaning addiction I cleaned the cottage and it was immaculate, in 5 years never had cleaning issues, if there had been any cleaning issues you would have contacted us immediately.
What a fantastic stay! We loved it. The place is immaculate, comfortable and so close to the theatre. Will definitely be back! Loved it.

This the perfect place to stay when working at Sunderland Empire Theatre. It is close by to the theatre itself and the shopping centre. Grant is a wonderful host and would recommend him to anyone staying in Sunderland!

Free, on street parking. 5 mins walk to stage door. Clean, comfortable and warm. Both bedrooms are massive, and have incredibly comfortable beds. Won't stay anywhere else in Sunderland now! Grant is lovely and always quick to respond to any queries.
