Living with Host

What does this mean?

The double bedroom (single occupation only) and private bathroom are on the top floor at the rear of our house. The house is generously proportioned and airy and the guest bedroom is extremely comfortable, light, spacious and quiet, with views over woodland on one side and Somerset Place (another Georgian crescent) on the other. Although you’ll be sharing our home, you will have exclusive use of the self-contained top floor, giving you a calm, private space in which to wind-down and relax after long days at rehearsals or performances. The area is also great for walks and cycling, with the the famous Cotswold Way only five minutes walk away.

Guest Parking

Guests do not need a car. Everywhere in Bath is walkable from our house. Bath Spa station is well-served from all major locations (an easy 1hr 20 minutes from/to London Paddington) and is only a 10-minute taxi from our house (approx £8) or 25 minute walk. For those guests who for some reason need to drive, it should not be a problem finding local parking spaces using the well-known parking apps or Lansdown Park & Ride.

The Area and Transport

Our bow-fronted Georgian house (circa 1793) sits in a quiet, leafy, residential area of Bath, just a
8-10 minute walk up Cavendish Rd (on a hill, so good exercise!) from the Royal Crescent, Victoria Park and the Botanical Gardens. Perfect for theatre and music professionals - peaceful, and comfortably away from the crowds, yet still only an 18-20 minute (well-lit) walk to Theatre Royal and the centre of Bath. Tucked between three elegant Georgian crescents and other Georgian properties, we look out over Doric House and historic High Common (see photographs) with its lovely views, walks and 9-hole golf. Local buses are close by and everyday essentials are an easy
6-8 minute walk away, including a Spar/Co-op, newsagent, launderette, local grocer, pharmacy, hairdresser, several cafes/restaurants and two excellent pubs (the Marlborough Tavern and the Chequers) offering good food. Hop-on/off e-scooters and e-bikes are frequently used and available throughout Bath via the Dott app.

This space is shared with 2 Hosts.

The house is shared with the two of us, and our very friendly Dalmatian (who stays in our part of the house and is not allowed upstairs). Even so, the guest space, comprising the spacious double bedroom and separate private bathroom with shower, is self-contained and completely private on the top floor, with a lockable bedroom door.

There is a small fridge and electric kettle in the room and, in addition to tea and coffee, we provide milk and sugar.

Excluded Facilities

We are unable to offer access to the kitchen or to the rest of the house and garden.
