Living with Host

What does this mean?

Bright double room with desk and fast Wi-Fi in large Georgian house with garden, private parking, full (shared) use of kitchen and living areas and within easy walking distance of all theatres and train station.

Guest Parking

There is one private parking space available to guests directly in front of the house. There is additional pay and display parking on the main road but please note this is a residents’ parking zone, so to avoid a ticket please ensure you park in public spaces only.

The Area and Transport

My house is in a quiet Georgian Square, tucked away just a short walk from the city centre. Mir is large and airy and full of light and there is a lovely garden where you can sit and relax and listen to birdsong. It is 10 minutes’ walk from Newcastle Central Station and within easy walking distance of all of Newcastle’s theatres (though you’ll need to take a bus or taxi to the People’s Theatre in Heaton):

There is a fairly steep hill to get to my house and my house has lots of stairs, so please consider this if your mobility is limited. Unfortunately, being an old house my house does not have step-free access.

Shared and Excluded Facilities

This space is shared with 2 Hosts and 1 child.

You will be sharing the house with me and my two teenage children (19 and 15). You will have shared access to the bathroom with shower and toilet on the ground floor, kitchen, dining room, living room and garden. The house is secure and comfortable.

Excluded Facilities

The family bathroom at the top of the house is not available for guests, but on request you can use it if you want to have a soak in the bath. Our bedrooms are obviously also not for guest use.

Other rules

These are rules/ guidelines that apply to all of us in the house.
Please remove shoes in the house.
Please avoid eating in your room where possible and please dispose of any rubbish and recycling in the appropriate bins in the kitchen (clean items before putting in recycling. Soft plastics collected separately). Any coffee grinds, teabags, fruit and veg peelings etc can go in the compost bin. Please don’t put any food waste or cooked food in there.
No smoking anywhere in the house or garden.
Please use shared spaces with consideration and clean up after yourself, washing up dishes after use or putting them in the dishwasher.

Had such a wonderful stay in Harriet's home! Lovely host and very communicative to make sure I had everything I needed. Beautiful home, bed was so comfy I had such a good night sleep! Very simple walk to theatre which was convenient, would definitely stay again when I find myself back in Newcastle. Thank you Harriet! =)
