Self-Contained
Cherished for its unique location and its rustic, easygoing atmosphere, this Victorian terraced house carries a quiet sense of history and creativity. With its distinctive Madame Lillie shopfront—once a corsetry and later transformed into an artist’s studio in 1973—the house has long been a welcoming home for makers, thinkers, and travellers.
Inside, the rooms are generously proportioned with an open-plan kitchen and dining area that invites shared meals and unhurried conversations. A small courtyard offers a peaceful outdoor setting, perfect for sitting with a coffee, reading, or simply enjoying a moment of calm.
Over the years, many artists have stayed here, some even hosting exhibitions and running a gallery from the former studio space, giving the house a rich creative spirit that still lingers today. The home is currently in a gentle period of transition and offers two bedrooms for short stays, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor

The home was lovely, a really big room and the kitchen is great with space for multiple people to cook. Anne was great with communication and super accommodating. Transport to Liverpool Street was super easy from here as well.
Would 100% stay again.

It was a pleasure to have David stay at Madame Lillies. Would recommend without hesitation.
Had the most wonderful stay at Madame Lilies! I loved the house, such a special place. And very comfortable! I had the pleasure of staying in both rooms and they were both terrific, couldn't pick a favourite. It's in a lovely part of Stoke Newington - great shops and cafes. Bargain. Was sad to leave, can't wait to stay again. x

Thank you Caoimhe. So happy you enjoyed your stay. Will pass on the message to Annette our neighbour and Sammy the cleaner and Look forward to meeting you in person should you return to London on your theatre travels.
Madame Lillie is the best place I could ever have stumbled upon. It's not just good value, and in a good location - it's an inherently inspiring building, with so much history, and a lot of soul! I've booked twice, and sadly missed my deadline for reviewing last time, but I absolutely loved my time there. It felt like an oasis in the stress of London life. Anne Catherine and Annette are also great people I'm glad I got to meet, and I would 100% book again!
