Living with Host

Friendly atmosphere. Light and airy room. Use of gally kitchen, excellent shower, and a home with Dixon, my affectionate Labrador. In walking distance to all theatres. The host, Rod, knows the business well from his own active experience. Works in Progress: Unravelling My Parts (a collection of miniature plays), Recycling Magpie (Musical).

Parking readily available in drive-way or on road.

The Area and Transport

Centrally situated quiet area. Hippodrome 20-30 minutes walk, Alexandra 30 minutes walk. The Birmingham Rep a little over 30 minutes. All easily accessible via buses 35, 45, 47, 61 and 63 which you can get at the end of the road.

Rod is a warm and friendly host who always enjoys a nice chat. His guide dog - Dixon - is a gorgeous boy. Great bedroom. Great shower. Big galley kitchen. Loads of free parking right outside. Nice park/open space right on the doorstep!

Easy walk in to theatre.

Would stay again.

Don’t take Dikson’s chair though, he will work his way in to get it back. Ha ha. A wonderful dog.

These are great digs! Rod is the perfect host and Dixon is utterly adorable. Rod is always up for a super interesting chat but never intrusive and his home is lovely. An easy 20-30 min walk to central Birmingham and a comfortable room, for a phenomenal price. I’d definitely stay again!

I had a wonderful stay with Rod & his beautiful dog Dixon. The room is very clean & quiet with the bed being nice and comfy, the shower is excellent. Rod is a lovely host and had nice chats with him most nights. Dixon is a wonderful, loving dog. Sad to leave at the end of my week stay but I highly recommended staying while in Birmingham. Well heated tidy and cosy room. Rod is a wonderful human to meet, my chats with him after an intense 8 (and in one case 9) show week were a great way to unwind. He’s a wealth of artistic and historical knowledge. Please enquire about projects that he’s working on, it’s so inspiring for ppl wanting to create themselves. Dixon is a furry dose of dopamine and is always ready for a belly rub and a cuddle.
Would definitely stay again!

Had a lovely stay here with Dixon the dog, who was very friendly and adorable! This was my second stay here. The room was nice with a comfy bed. About 20-25 mins to walk to the Alexandra Theatre, or there are good public transport links nearby. Would gladly stay again. Oh, Rod ("Dixon's carer" as we joked!) was also lovely too and we had some very nice conversations during my stay. Thanks!

I had an amazing stay here for the 5 nights I was a guest. The room is clean, spacious and airy with the rooms proximity to the city centre a major plus. it was very easy to get a bus into the city centre for rehearsals and show timings. The value of the room cannot be understated; it was a fantastic price for that was given, it was clean, tidy and well furnished. Overall I had a brilliant experience here with everything. Tej

Rod was lovely to stay with. His dog Dixon is adorable. The house has a lovely conservatory and garden. Very close to the city centre - about a 15min walk and good bus route. Thanks for the perfect stay Rod.
