About the rooms:
* Room 1. A large double near the city centre with its own tv, good wifi and a full length mirror so you'll always look your best.
*Room 2. A cosy and bright single room with mirror, shelves, hanging space and under bed storage.
* 15 mins away from local theatres by public transport, 20-25 minutes on foot.
* Use of shared living area, dining room, kitchen & garden and primary use of the downstairs bathroom (I use a separate shower room so it's effectively all yours unless both rooms are taken). I know not everyone likes to share so am happy to guarantee you sole use of the bathroom for an extra £10 a week.
* Free on street parking outside the house.
TL;DR:
My house is a Victorian Terrace in the Embankment/Old Meadows area of Nottingham. At the bottom of the road are playing fields, a park and the River Trent. It is very close to Trent Bridge (famous for the cricket ground) and Nottingham Forest Football stadium and the city centre is only a 10 minute walk away.
Staying in London a lot for work, I am well aware it can be exhausting staying in someone else’s house so below are my ‘house rules’ so you know exactly what to expect.
1. The house should feel like your home while you’re away.
2. You are welcome to have friends over for food / company / line-learning etc at any time just please let me know you’re expecting company. Do use the living room and dining room and make yourself at home, pottering in your PJs is always fine here!
3. You should never feel you have to be caught in polite chitchat or that you’re in the way. You are always welcome to cook or do laundry when you need to, chat over a drink or hang out in the kitchen and living room, but also being away is tiring and if you need to be anti-social that’s absolutely fine. I won’t bat an eyelid if you cook a full roast dinner at 1am or we are like passing ships and don’t see each other for a week. Theatre hours are bizarre.
4. Don’t worry about coming in early or late – I sleep like the dead so you won’t disturb me.
5. I make sure the house is cleaned regularly and will provide a change of sheets. I’m more than happy to change the bed and pop the hoover round your room too but want to respect your space so will only do this if you ask me to. I will love you forever if you make sure your dishes are washed before bed but I won’t cry if that doesn’t always happen after a long day.
6. If you have any allergies, access requirements or anything helpful for me to know or need anything to make your stay comfortable and stress free, do let me know.
7. If you’d like friends/partners or family to visit let me know and we can work out if possible (I have an air bed but your room doubles as the spare room normally so it might be a bit of a squeeze).
8. If you are a parent your children are very welcome to visit. I also have a current enhanced DBS check.
9. I work from home 3-4 days a week so if you’re wanting to have people over in the day please just be mindful that I will likely be on calls upstairs.
10. I rent so it’s no smoking/vaping inside but the garden has a sofa and is all yours if you need your nicotine fix.
Obviously super happy to have pairs of folks together in both rooms - just let me know when you’re booking so I make sure not to give the other room away.
About me:
I’m Lydia (they/she), I’m in my mid 30s, work in the charity sector and rent this lovely Victorian terrace which i’ve really made my home. I’m living alone after years in successful house shares. I have lots of friends in the arts who host in this way so I thought it would be a great way to meet new people, help people find their feet in a new city and of course help towards the bills!
I do a mix of working from home and commuting to London but always up for a glass of wine, a cuppa or to leave you to your own space around work as you prefer.
