Living with Host
Stay in our chic and sunny eco-home!
The double has a super comfy Simba mattress, chest of drawers, desk & chair and clothes rail. Your private bathroom is right next to your room, with strong shower and bath to unwind in.
The king (available only occasionally) has a super comfy Eve mattress, chest of drawers, clothes rail, ensuite and private balcony with beautiful views
As an eco-home, it’s always nice & warm, and the house is professionally cleaned every fortnight.
Our kitchen’s fully equipped and we have a BEAUTIFUL bean-to-cup coffee machine we can induct you into ☕️
We have super-fast broadband, a large downstairs lounge-dining area (with huge TV & all streaming services), and a sunny garden with 2 seating areas.
We both work in the arts and have toured before so understand how what you'll be looking for.
Unfortunately, due to allergies, we can’t host smokers or those touring with pets.

Guest Parking
You'll have your own private parking space just outside the house.
The Area and Transport
We live on a beautiful eco-home development so even though we’re a little way out of the centre, it’s pretty idyllic and super quiet. There’s a walking and cycle path straight into the town (45 / 15 mins respectively), buses, and it’s usually £6-8 in an Uber. (We can also recommend a good value private parking space near the theatres, bookable for the week)
The development has loads of open green space for runs, work outs and wanders, as well as two large ponds with resident swans and ducks.
You’re also more than welcome to have our private car parking space, just outside the house, should you need it. If you have a bike, we’ve got a rack in our shed to keep it safe.
We love living in York and have lots of recommendations to share with you if you wish.

Shared and Excluded Facilities
This space is shared with 2 Hosts.
The double room has private use of the bathroom next to it. The king room has private use of an en-suite and balcony.
The lounge, kitchen, downstairs bathroom, entrance and garden are shared.
For the majority of the time, only the double room is available, and therefore you'll be sharing the house with one or both us (Max & Gus).
From time to time, if we're both away for a long period, we allow people to book our king room, which might mean sharing the house with another Digs Guest (most probably from your cast/crew).

Excluded Facilities
The king room does not have use of the bedroom on the middle floor, or that bathroom.
The double room does not have use of the top floor (bedroom, ensuite and balcony).

I had a lovely stay with Max and Gus. Very quiet location and a lovely comfy room with everything you need. It’s a nice 40 minute walk into town via the cycle path.Max and Gus are great hosts. I will definitely be back next time I’m in town 😊

Max's digs's are lovely! Max is a great host, and very accommodating to a couple of last minute changes.
The digs are in a great area, the house is stunning - the pictures don't quite do it justice. I'll definitely be back when I'm next in york!

Perfect digs. Max and Gus are friendly and fun but give you a lot of privacy. Loads of helpful digs information and accurate directions etc. It's a quick 35 min walk to the theatres, along a cycle track, which I really enjoyed pre and post-shows; nice way to unwind. The house and bedroom and private bathroom are spotless, stylish, quiet and warm. Really enjoyed my stay here. Would def stay again.

Everything was just perfect! One of the best digs I’ve ever stayed in. I even asked guys if they consider full time renting haha :)) Very very clean, room is great and you have your own bathroom. Location is a bit tricky if you don’t drive and want to rely on public transport. Buses run once an hour and it’s quite a walk to and from the bus station. So walking for 50 mins to the York royal theatre or calling uber makes much more sense which I ended up doing. Walk is lovely, through city walls :)

Max’s digs are brilliant! Max is very welcoming, and a great host if you’re ever in the house during the day.
The room is lovely, and you get the luxury of a sunrise wake up depending on the weather / season, which is a great way to start a day.
The kitchen and bathroom are both also lovely, and having autonomy of them is a bonus, as you can use them when you get in (even after later shows).
Will definitely be trying to stay here again when I’m next in York!

An absolutely ideal stay with Max and Gus, attentive and friendly hosts who provided all the info I could need in a welcome booklet and made sure I felt comfortable. House was SPOTLESS and had everything I needed, such a beautiful home and really nice kitchen to use. Bed was very comfy. I used the allocated parking and drove in and out (less than 10 mins) but if walking its a bit further out, around 45 mins, it’s a very safe and peaceful area. Amazing value too would definitely come back again!

I had such a lovely time staying with Max & Gus! They are the loveliest & most generous hosts - and their house is beautiful, homely and very tidy. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with them and would definitely come again next time.

Gus and Max are fantastic hosts. Their house is warm, clean to perfection and all the facilities you would need. I would go straight back if ever I was in York.
Whilst you might prefer an Uber at night (the walk to the bus stop is a little shady at after dark the buses I used were quick and easy.
You will have a wonderful stay and Max's more than thorough 'Welcome Pack' will answer any questions you have!

Absolutely loved staying with Max and Gus - they were both so welcoming, and it's great to stay with people who understand theatre and touring life as it can be so demanding. The house is great, and the mattress is so comfy it's hard to get out of bed! I would absolutely stay again.

Really enjoyed my stay here, Max and Gus were so friendly and had lots of suggestions of things to do in York! Super comfy bed and the room, bathroom and house were beautiful. The walk was long but easy to navigate. Would definitely stay here again next time I’m in the area!

I had a wonderful stay here with Max and his partner. It was a very clean and friendly environment. I only dropped one star on location as it is quite far out. I was lucky with the weather most of the week and so I walked in where I could, which was lovely. Uber back wasn't too expensive. I would absolutely recommend to a friend and I look forward to staying again in future. Thank you

I had the most lovely stay with Max and Gus! The room was beautiful, so clean, so cozy and had a lovely amount of storage. The bathroom was spotless -- and has the best bathtub! Max and Gus were so welcoming and generous with their space. Easy bus links into the city, or a beautiful walk. Cannot recommend this stay enough! Thank you Max and Gus!

Gus and Max were exceptionally welcoming. They opened their beautiful home to me during a panto contract of just over 2 months. The bedroom was exquisite; warm, cosy, homely and a wonderful size with a pleasant view. It was adjacent to a brand new bathroom and was for my use only.
As both Gus and Max work in the theatre they struck the perfect balance of friendliness and conversation with the need for space and down-time. I would recommend whole-heartedly and unreservedly. Many thanks, M

Max and Gus are wonderful - and the house is extremely comfortable - best bed I've slept in all tour! Location is a little far out, but superbly appointed house, super clean and tidy and quiet location - good for buses in, didn't try walking it! Would definitely stay again!
