About these Digs
Living with Host
The room's a comfortable double overlooking a peaceful community garden, yet the city is only a hop away. Located in a friendly Bohemian quarter, the flat is on the first floor of a low-rise redbrick block with stairway access.
The bed has new bedding and a mattress likened to "sleeping on a cloud." The room is fully furnished, and bedding, towels, smart TV and internet are provided.
Guests are welcome to use the well-equipped kitchen, and cupboard space is available. There's a washer dryer, shared with the household. Please ask in advance to use.
The bathroom and kitchen are communal but, as I sometimes work from home, the living room is my domain unless invited.
My 5-year-old granddaughter comes to stay for a few days every month. She's cheerful and respectful, but please let me know if kids aren't your thing.

On street parking is available. Please request a parking permit in advance if you're bringing your car.

Walking distances to theatres are approx:
Z-arts: 5 mins
HOME: 7 mins
Dancehouse: 10 mins
Bridgewater Hall: 12 mins
Palace Theatre: 14 mins
Opera House: 20 mins
Royal Exchange: 25 mins
The Lowry: Take the tram from Deansgate-Castlefield to MediaCity, which drops you almost on the theatre's doorstop. The stop is about a 10 minute walk from home and the journey takes 23 minutes, with trams leaving every 12 mins.
Shops: There's are Sainsbury's Local and Co-op supermarkets nearby, with a bigger Asda and Sainsbury's within reasonable driving/walking distances.

It's a shoes off zone, so please bring your comfiest slippers! Smokers/vapers are invited to use the sheltered balcony. I generally ask rent to be paid in cash, (please notify me in advance if this is an issue for you). The living room is my domain unless pre-arranged. There are recycling facilities in the kitchen and composting on the balcony that guests are encouraged to use. Visitors are welcome by prior arrangement, and overnighting partners cost an extra £10 per night.

Clean, tidy and so full of character.
Easy enough walk to the Palace theatre and felt relatively safe in the area.

Mardyah was a lovely guest; appreciative, communicative and considerate (not least when she needed to practice her muted violin :-)), and very welcome to visit again.
Gorgeous room with a really comfortable bed! Carrier's flat is clean and cosy. I had a lovely 2 weeks staying in Manchester, Carrie was welcoming and respectful with great communication.

Carrie is a great host who communicates everything you need to know from start to end. She is often up for a laugh/chat when home, making you feel very welcomed! And helps get cases up to 1st floor flat. My room had a whole chest of drawers, dressing table and some wardrobe for storage - fab! Location wise, I found it great for the Opera house. Outside of the busy town centre, but only a 20 min walk mostly along the main road, with just the last couple of minutes in the quiet residential area.

Carrie is a wonderful host and her flat is situated perfectly for anyone working at the Manchester Palace. The room is a decent size, the bed is comfortable and Carrie herself is friendly, accommodating and all-in-all, an ideal host!

Communication before I arrived was excellent, and arrived to a very warm welcome.
The room was so comfortable and felt very relaxed there.
Carrie made to feel right at home, would highly recommend.
Only a short walk to the tram to get to The Lowry, and close enough to walk into Manchester City centre.

I really enjoyed staying at Carrie's place - such a comfortable, warm and homely environment - exactly what I needed during a very hectic 2 weeks at The Lowry. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a real home from home. I will definitely be back if I'm ever at The Lowry again! 🤩

An absolute dream! Carrie is so friendly, fun, respectful and chilled. It's a 15 min walk to the Palace which is ideal, great communication from start to finish, and a really welcoming vibe. Highly recommend!

Loved my stay here. The room is so cosy and decor makes you feel right at home. Carrie was great with communication and parking was a huge bonus. The digs are so close to HOME Manchester so it made things very easy on a busy week.
I'd suggest an extra lamp in the bedroom as even with the lights, it's very dim, but I cant fault the stay at all.

I couldn't have felt more at home at Carrie's digs. She's a fantastic host, the room is comfortable, and it's an easy 20 minute walk to the Opera House. I stayed for 5 weeks and would have happily stayed 5 more.

Carrie was absolutely lovely, friendly and communicative from start to finish. Would love to go back there again. Nicely decorated flat. A couple of fruit flies about but that's what happens when you have beautiful plants everywhere. Thanks Carrie!

Carrie gets 100% across the boards. I couldn’t ask for a better host for my first digs of the tour. A very special lady. Super nice and fun! I felt so lucky to be here. This is a home away from home kind of place with total respect for privacy.

Great room close to the theatre (and dangerously convenient on the way home via Bunny Jackson's...) friendly hosts and even got a chance to chat with their granddaughter! Very bright, sunshine filled room! Would recommend.

I had a great stay here, it was clean and tidy and less than 20 minutes walk to the Opera House or about £5 in a taxi. The room was perfect and Carrie was very welcoming and I was made to feel at home during my quite long stay!

A quiet, comfy room which was spotlessly clean and tidy. It’s perfect for those performing at Z-Arts which is only a 5 minute walk away, with a lovely coffee shop a 2 minute walk away. Thank you Carrie & Jack!

Had a great stay at Carrie’s. Comfortable bed, really nice room looking out on trees. Just outside ring road, in leafy street, was 10 mins by bicycle to Opera House, 20 ish mins walk. Will look forward to returning.

Excellent Communication with the host who was also very friendly throughout my stay. The actual room is small and very dark. The walk into town is around 15 minutes and would recommend taxis or Ubers home at night.

I'm sorry that the bedroom wasn't to your liking Nia. You're the first guest to have expressed such an opinion. I think that the photos give a fair indication of what to expect? You did enjoy free parking, a bargain so close to the city centre!
I had such a lovely time staying with Carrie. Super comfortable, walking distance to theatres and city centre, clean and very friendly hosts! Will certainly stay again and thoroughly recommend!

Couldn't fault it. Carrie was understanding, helpful and all round amazing. The bed is so comfortable it really is like sleeping on a cloud. I'll definitely be looking to return as and when I need to.
