The other king-size bed is inspired by the whimsical charm of the classic film "Bedknobs and Broomsticks," adding a touch of magic to your stay.

Guest Parking
We are in a quiet square with a central garden and free on-street parking around the square.
If you commute by car to Sheffield theatres, they offer subsidised parking for @£6 per day.
The Area and Transport
Sheffield is home to the largest collection of theatres outside of London, managed by Sheffield Theatres, which includes The Lyceum, The Crucible, The Playhouse, and the Montgomery Theatre. The city also features venues like The Utilita Arena, Lantern Theatre and City Hall. All are commutable from our digs.
Public transport is convenient, with buses providing direct access to the main theatres in about 15-20 minutes. Taxi fares between key locations typically range from £6 to £10.
For drivers, subsidised parking is available near The Crucible for around £6 per day.
Walking to the city centre takes about 30-40 minutes, offering a pleasant experience, especially in summer.
For your important supplies, there is a local Tesco and shops in the immediate area, and a larger Tesco is en route to and from the theatre. We have a lovely big eat-in kitchen with a fridge for your food.

Two full bathrooms- Upstairs is the steam shower with rain head and body jets , whirlpool jetted bath, toilet, bidet and sink
Downstairs is the arc rain shower with body jets, an air pool, a whirlpool bath with lights, and a heater to keep the water warm. Toilet and sink.
The upstairs bathroom is due for refurbishment-spring 2026
Excluded Facilities
We are happy to share the entire property, excluding only our bedroom. There is a large eat-in kitchen, a cosy living room, and an office available in the evening. Along with two bathrooms and your room.
There is one wardrobe in the 4 poster room, where we keep some clothes, however, another wardrobe and chest of drawers is available to you in that room

I enjoyed every bit of my stay. The room was cozy, the bathroom was just the best, the Internet was topnotch and it was very close to the busstop.

We try to keep up to date with accommodation rates and the upkeep of our rooms for example with new mattresses periodically etc.The transport options from our digs to most of the surrounding theatres is excellent. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and happy to welcome you again.
We had a great stay at John and Heather’s. Lovely couple and very accommodating, up for chats at the end of the night which is nice. They went over and beyond to make our stay fun and relaxed. My bed was particularly comfortable. It’s a 35min/40 min walk to station but also a handy bus just round the corner. Thank you!

Overall great stay with John and Heather. Very welcoming, friendly hosts. Comfortable room and a great shower. Toilet wasnt in the most ideal workinf condition as flush had to be manually activated. But apart from that very much enjoyed my stay!

Thank you, Daniel; we look forward to presenting a new bathroom upstairs this spring. There is always the 2nd bathroom, which is brand new. We still pride ourselves on having a comfortable bed, a good night's sleep, and a fantastic shower ( well, two of them and a jacuzzi bath.
John and Heather were very interesting, friendly and hospitable. Their lovely large victorian home is undergoing upgrades (didn't impact on the stay at all) and the big kitchen and facilities were great. I had the large double which was very comfy and is due new windows and upgrading as is the guest bathroom which had a fantastic shower.
Great position with on street parking and a bus (2 min walk max) which was 15/20 mins to right outside the Lyric and Crucible theatres. Great value.

John and Heather's place is incredible, always warm, but not stuffy!
The location of the digs is great, definitely a cycle-able distance - when the weather is right. Both John and Heather are great to chat to, and have some very cool topics for conversation before and after shows [not always show related either!]
Will hopefully be staying here again if there's availability!

We will always have room for you Stan! Thank you, we love guests who have a wide range of topics to cover during our kitchen table chats. The bus is super convenient if it's not cycle weather, and a gorgeous walk in the summer. However a taxi is only £7 too. We were happy to store your bike too.

Hi Joseph, Thank you for your all-star review! We pride ourselves on making people feel like they are in their own homes. The bus ride is around £2, the good news is if you club together with our other tenants, an Uber is £6, so between you, either is a swift and easy ride to and from the stage door.
John and Heather were wonderful hosts, they enjoy it and it immediately put me at ease. Easy quick bus ride into town. Uber at night £6.00. I would definitely stay again if I’m back in Sheffield.

John and Heather were great hosts, I felt very welcome. The bus stop is so close and loads of regular buses direct to Sheffield Theatres. Heather had told me they were finishing their extension, but it was fine. Loved the steam shower and good conversation.

Great stay here. Bed was nice and big! I got the bus to the theatre most days, only £2, bus stop right by the house and quite regular. Uber was only about £5/£6. Had a busy week so wasn’t in the house much but was made to feel very welcome. Don’t be put off by the distance from the theatre, I’d happily stay again. Thanks!

Thank you, Aaron. The king-size bed is big and can accommodate taller people like yourself! The bus service is excellent door to stage door, and yes tax, taxis quite easy too. Our advantage in being on an 'A priority' route, where we are in Sheffield,means that even if there is thick snow, our route is cleared quickly, whereas others closer to town may not be clear.
Lovely and welcoming, wonderful hosts who put me at ease, conveniently located near a bus stop - I had a wonderful time staying here :)

Best digs in Sheffield! We loved staying here for 3 weeks. The steam shower, sauna and beautiful big bath make it feel like you’re staying at a spa! John and Heather were lovely hosts and have put in lots of lovely touches to make you feel right at home. Loads of space in the kitchen and fridge so cooking is easy. The bus stop right outside the house takes you straight to stage door in under 20 mins and they run very regularly. We will definitely come back!

Heather and John are both a delight, as is their remarkably comfortable home. I had the best nights' sleep of the tour so far here… and also the best rain shower! It's a quick and easy bus ride to the theatres, too. Highly recommended!

I had a lovely stay at Heather and Johns while in Sheffield. They are very welcoming and the rooms are lovely. The bathroom with the amazing shower is a real plus. Easy to get to the theatre on the bus and not too pricey in an Uber.

The home was very clean & tidy, more than happy with my room. Location-wise there is a bus stop a few yards from the house, I waited no longer than 2 mins for a 15 minute bus ride which dropped me literally outside the Lyceum. Lovely couple too.

Thank you, Yemi; one advantage of our bus route is that it is a priority route, as its the route from the centre to A&E, so even in winter the buses run, unlike other areas in Sheffield with steep hills
Heather and John were delightful. Due to a family member being hospitalised, I needed a room fast. They were incredibly helpful and flexible. I then tested positive for COVID so instead of 7 nights I only stayed 1.They had no issue with this either.

John and Heather are absolutely wonderful! Nothing was too much trouble! The room was super comfy. House has everything you could ever want and more. Best shower and bath you’ll ever have! Couldn’t recommend enough!

Had a lovely stay in the single room which was comfortable and spacious with everything I needed. Safe and easy free street parking was a bonus and an easy drive into the theatre as I was feeling lazy that week.
I would absolutely stay again!

Heather and John are lovely. This is certainly the first time I’ve been offered a massage and a jacuzzi on arrival! Fluffiest towels on the tour circuit!

I had the most comfortable stay. The hosts were a delight and their love of theatre was clear. It was a luxury to have a bath! My bed was super comfy and the kitchen had everything that you would need to prepare meals. I will definitely stay again :)

John and Heather are a lovely and welcoming couple with a very nice home. If you're looking for a quiet, comfortable, clean and tidy stay I'd recommend it as one of the best I've had the pleasure of staying in while working!

Lovely, friendly hosts. House was warm, clean & comfortable. 45 min pleasant walk to theatre . While I was staying there was no working shower, only a bath, & hot water was a bit temperamental - but this was only due to temporary boiler issues.

Lovely hosts - loads of recommendations and v friendly! The single room was cosy & comfy, amazing value. It's a good 40min walk from the theatres - not bad when the weather is nice (& downhill heading into town) but get the bus or a taxi (£6) home.

Great place to stay. The room was nice and big with underfloor heating, and John and Heather (and their two absolutely massive cats) are excellent hosts.

A lovely single room in a wonderful old house. Very friendly and welcoming. Next to bus stop for a 15 min ride which drops you off outside the Lyceum / Crucible. Would definitely book again.

House was a liveable habitat, hosts were great, bed was comfortable and bath kept on having the hot water running when it was necessary. Location is great as there are many bus stops that take you to the city centre.

Heather and John are very friendly hosts who understand actor's hours. There's a great old-fashioned kitchen and two very friendly cats. It's an old Victorian house with "curvy lines" etc., and a 40 min walk to town. Great hospitality!

If you don't mind a pleasant (40minute) walk down into town then this place is great. Good value and friendly hosts. Would definitely stay again!

Lovely big double room. Tesco express down the road which is handy.
Big kitchen which I was free to use. Helpful and laid back hosts.
Couldn't ask for more.

This house offers a great big airy room with a fantastically comfy bed and if that wasn't enough the bathroom boasts an incredible shower and all mod bathing cons.... My lovely hosts were very understanding of my weird theatre style working hours and endeavoured to make my stay as comfortable as possible - meaning it felt like home away from home which is very important when one is working away so hard and for so long....
Great links to the centre of town and not too expensive in a taxi on the way back out.
If I ever have the pleasure of going back to lovely Sheffield I will definitely be trying for a room here again!!!

John and Heather were lovely to stay with and the room was spacious and comfortable.
Access to bathroom with shower and bath and kitchen.
Very regular buses straight into town and a nice quiet location.
Recommended!

Fantastic friendly hosts and lovely house and rooms.
Nice 40 minute walk to Lyceum or buses go at least every 5 minutes from end of road.
Had great stay here and would highly recommend.

A lovely stay in Sheffield - the Lyceum and Crucible are a forty-five minute walk away, otherwise there are a lot of bus routes that all seemed to go into the centre of town from the bus stop around the corner. I never waited for more than five minutes and a single journey was £1.40 (price correct March 2015).
A lovely big house and a comfortable room - the photos are a very accurate representation. John and Heather were excellent hosts - friendly and welcoming.
I'd definitely be keen to stay with them again, highly recommended.
