What does this mean?

Attractive double room in main door flat with access to communal garden and small private seating area. Shared use of large, well-equipped dining kitchen, laundry room, bathroom with shower over bath and comfortable sitting room with TV and piano.
You'd be living with me (see profile) and my quiet and retiring greyhound.

The Area and Transport

My flat is located at the top of Whale Brae in Newhaven, a few minutes walk away from Newhaven Harbour and the tram which takes you up Leith Walk to the airport, passing the Playhouse, Waverley Station and Princes Street. From there, it's an easy walk or bus to all other theatres.
If you prefer the bus, there is a bus stop a 3 minute stroll from the front door.
Newhaven is served by Asda and a Sainsbury's Local, both a short walk away. There are cafes, pubs and restaurants close by.
Beautiful walks through Victoria Park to the Water of Leith and the Leith Railway Trails are on the doorstep.
From 24 July 2026 City of Edinburgh Council will charge a 5% visitor levy for the first 5 consecutive nights' stay.

Melanie is so friendly, welcoming and hospitable. She has a beautiful home that had everything I needed. The room was super comfortable. It was around 20 mins on the bus to the Festival Theatre or an easy Uber. Such good value for money, would highly recommend for your Edinburgh stay.

I had the loveliest stay with Mel. She is friendly, warm, and a delight to chat to. The bed was lovely and cosy with the added bonus of a heated blanket to keep toasty. Mel was also very chilled with my partner coming to stay for a weekend which I'm very grateful for.

It's about a 20/25 minutes walk to the playhouse along two straight roads, and the buses were frequent and reliable from a stop only minutes away.

I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend to anyone else.

I have never stayed such a beautiful and cozy house. Melanie is a great host and I truly feel at home.
It's very convenient to go to the city center, by the tram station and the bus No.7&11 line.

Brilliant place. Mel is so welcoming and is a great communicator. I felt like I could use the whole place without awkwardness and over politeness. Super clean, really comfy bed and free on road parking. A bit of a walk into town but the tram is super convenient.

Melanie was a delightful host who home was warm and inviting. We had some excellent conversations and she was always eager to offer advice on travel, eating, etc. I would absolutely stay again and recommend all of my friends and colleagues to book if they need a place in Edinburgh. Thanks Melanie!
