Living with Host

What does this mean?

A Victorian town house (1895), mid-terrace, set a little back from the main road, which is typically characterful and of the period. The decor appeals to the creative, your host is a practicing artist and designer and a big collector of vintage, antique, and interesting objects. The house interiors can be seen @the_unstately_home on Instagram.
There are 2 spacious and comfortable guest rooms, one on the first floor that is front-facing (double glazed) and the other on the second floor (facing the church at the back) which is slightly smaller and a little quieter but has a sink (and more stairs obviously). There is a shared bathroom (for guests only) with a spacious shower and you have full use of the shared kitchen with table and chairs for dining. Washing machine and dryer etc. are at your disposal.
Your host often works from home so is mostly on hand if needed.

Guest Parking

There is free on-street parking just opposite the house and more spaces on the side street (Hallifield Street). There is also a Jet garage for petrol/diesel, snacks, coffee, tyre inflating and car washing 100 yards away.

The Area and Transport

A characterful town house in Norton-on-Tees on the main road between Stockton and Billingham. Norton has a lovely village green with a picturesque duckpond and there are a number of nice bars, coffee shops and restaurants 10-20 minutes walk away, as well as an excellent Lidl. There are great transport links and we are on a direct and regular bus route. The Globe and Arc are both within walking distance - 25mins, Billingham Forum is 15 minutes away by bus (which comes about every 10 minutes) and it is only 5-7 miles to Middlesbrough (to get to Middlesborough Theatre you do need to take 2 buses which is awkward, but if you have your own transport it's only about a 12 minute drive).

This space is shared with 1 Host and 1 other paying Guest.

Private Rooms: Your bedroom remains completely private, the host will not enter during your stay, though long-stay guests may request room cleaning, fresh linen etc. The shower room is also purely for theatre guests and is not used by the host, though if they wish the guests may use the bath in the hosts bathroom. N.B. The house has a total of 3 toilets (one on the ground floor off the kitchen).
Shared spaces include the kitchen, utility room, back garden, hall and entrance.

Excluded Facilities

The living room is not available to guests, except during short periods when your host is away. The other room downstairs is usually where she works at the desk, if not in the studio at the top of the house, you are welcome to share if you need office space at all.
