Arty ground floor flat in former woollen mill in Bradford centre, 12 mins walk Alhambra, 8 mins St George's Hall, 3 mins Bradford Arts Centre (to re-open 2025) & cathedral. Close to both rail stations (30 secs/8 mins),Trains to Leeds 18 mins, London direct 150 mins. Kitchen swing! Pull-down screen for movies!
I'm currently renting a tiny studio in the countryside to do my work from (writer, literary translator, jobbing artist's model) so I can host guests full-time in my Bradford flat. Theatre guests are a VERY WELCOME boost to my cobbled-together income. My sunny high-ceilinged flat has doubled as an artists' studio. I've maximised space with Berlin-style wooden mezzanines. The smaller room has a double futon upstairs (with little stairs rather than a ladder), and a double futon downstairs, plus there's a hammock chair that you can remove and/or hang in the front room too. Also it has a work station with monitor, speakers and keyboard with USB plugs. The big front room has a double futon on the mezzanine, also a chaise longue beneath it that converts to a single bed at night, so you have the choice of NOT climbing a ladder to bed...! To watch a quirky 5-minute movie showing artists at work in this apartment, do a search on: Vimeo 'Suki's Life Room'.
It's a small apartment and nothing is off-limits. The apartment's hallway has three doors: one to the smaller room, one to the bathroom (with shower over bath), and one to the L-shaped living-room/kitchen/studio at the front of the apartment. The price includes helping yourself to whatever foods and (plentiful) drinks are in my cupboard - so you can cook, because all the herbs and spices etc are here. 24 hour Tesco 10 mins walk, Poundland (with food freezers) across the road, fab Polish bread from EuroMax 3 minutes away, M&S at end of my street. Also 7-11pm Sainsburys is en route between here and the Alhambra. Fab curry houses everywhere, and 24-hour Macdonalds 5 mins along the street.
PARKING is a free for all in our shared yard (to the right of our building) against the wall of our building, NOT against the neighbouring building. Alternatively, there are two very nearby Euro-Car Parks (within 100 metres of flat, along Valley Rd), £2.50 per 12 hours, £4 per 24 hours. Honestly all my visitors so far have managed to park for free in the yard.
