Living with Host

What does this mean?

The rooms are warm and inviting with a double bed in each and blackout blinds on the windows. The area is normally quiet and peaceful. A bathroom is shared between the two theatre-digs-only rooms (family have our own bathroom). There is a kitchen downstairs you can use for tea/coffee, breakfast, making meals. Our house is in a quiet side street just off vibrant Cowley Road with food shops, cafes and restaurants. Closer at hand is a coffee roastery, a decent pub, more excellent cafes, a health food shop and eating places such as the renowned Magdelen Arms.

Guest Parking

We have one off-street parking space which is available for guests - just let us know when yu are arrving and we will make sure it is vacant. Occasoinally we will get two guests with a car each but that is not a problem - we can log your car as a visitor vehicle and you won't get a ticket!

The Area and Transport

To reach the Playhouse and New Theatre takes a walk into historic Oxford centre taking about 25 mins, or you can catch a bus which speeds up the journey to around 10-15mins. The River Thames is a short walk away and offers an alternative scenic walk along the towpath into the centre. Our small local theatre, the Pegasus, is very close by, about 5-6 minutes walk.

Shared and Excluded Facilities

This space is shared with 3 Hosts and 1 other paying Guest.

The bedrooms are of course private to the guest but we have not fitted locks. Please let us know if that is a concern. There is a bathroom which is resrved for the use of theatre digs guests so shared between two when both rooms are occupied. This has a lockable door. The kitchen is available for making drinks and food and we invite you to use the dining table for eating.

Excluded Facilities

There are other bedrooms and a family bathroom on the upper floors which are not available to guests. Downstairs, the kitchen and an extra toilet are available. There is a sitting/TV room normally not available but if you would like to watch something please ask and if we are not using it, you would be welcome to.

I loved staying here and what a wonderful small world. Juliet and Giles have a beautiful home and were so welcoming. It felt a very special place to stay. And brilliantly located too.

I’ve stayed here twice and both visits were lovely. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming while still giving you space to do your own thing. The room was spacious and comfortable, and I had a great night’s sleep each time. The bathroom was also very roomy with a generous shower. Great location close to Pegasus and with excellent transport links to Oxford city centre and wider Oxfordshire. I would happily stay again and highly recommend it.
