Come down the steps to the garden flat with its own front door. Your large, comfortable room is located in a quiet conservation area overlooking Kelvingrove Park. It is the perfect base for anyone coming to Glasgow as an arts professional be that performing, visual or production, with easy access to public transport, on street parking or short walks to work... the perfect base to live, work and to discover our friendly, interesting & vibrant city.
The flat is a 20 to 30 min walk from the city centre theatres, The CCA, The Kings, The Pavilion, The Theatre Royal and The Tron as well as all the central music venues including King Tut's, Berkley Studios, The Royal Concert Halls and The Old Fruitmarket. The O2 Academy, Tramway and The Citz are just across the river as are the BBC and STV studios and Film City.
The flat is a stones throw from the buzz of 'Foodie Finnieston', the university, art school, The Mitchell Theatre, SECC, Hydro, Sky-Park & Cottiers, Oran Mor, the Westend, as well as all the museums, galleries festivals & other arts venues that Glasgow is famous for.
Your room is jokingly known as the 'west wing', a huge space at 20' x 15' (aprox 6m x 5m), at the front of the flat with its own hall accessed directly from the front door. The room is split into three areas so it feels very much like your own little apartment space... Sleeping. There is a large and comfortable king sized bed, retro wardrobe and an antique chest of drawers, as well as bedside tables and lights so you can cozy up with a good book. Sitting; some eclectic lighting and vintage furniture add a little extra character to compliment the bookshelves which house a selection of books, dvd's, games and CD's by local musicians for you to enjoy during your stay. The television, cd/radio, sofa and daybed make this another comfy area to enjoy. Dining; a dinning table with chairs and stools sits in the big bay window. In the nearby cupboard you will find a kettle, microwave and mini fridge as well as china, cutlery, glassware etc. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar are provided, all I ask is that all the dirty dishes etc are put on the trolley in your hall outside your room and from which they will be magically taken away and replaced with clean ones! While you are my guest you don’t need to lift a finger.
If you are planning to stay for more than a few nights we can discuss arrangements that include the use of other areas of the flat, use of facilities that may make a longer stay easier for guests (eg washing machine & kitchen, please note these things & areas are not automatically included in the price of your booking). If there is something you would like, just ask, I can only say one of two things!
There is a private courtyard at the front of the building where you can sit and watch the world go by. Take a cup of tea or coffee out with you to catch the morning sun, or enjoy a glass of wine from the little table and chairs amongst the pots of plants. The flat is in the middle of the long process of total renovation (your room is complete) the end goal of which is that your room will have private access to a bathroom. At the moment though we are sharing. The bathroom has recently been refitted with a deep bath, good shower, heated towel rail, good sized sink (with great lighting for applying ones make-up!) a loo and a lovely, big, bright window over looking the garden, just remember to pull the blind down when you want privacy! When I have guests, I clear out of the bathroom - you should not notice we are sharing.
I share my home with a retired and rescued ex racing greyhound, Jeeves. He is a charming, calm, characterful gentleman who loves making new friends, but like me, he will stay out if you way and give you all the privacy you want during your stay. However, if you want some ‘Jeeves time’ I’m sure he will be very happy to accommodate!
Jeeves and I look forward to welcoming you to our home in this very friendly city.
