Self-contained Basement Bedroom/Shower Room/Kitchen (Norwich)
The self-contained basement suite in our Victorian terraced house is just 10 minutes' brisk walk from the Theatre Royal and city centre.
Although you enter via the front door and hall of our house, the suite is very private and we often do not see guests at all throughout the duration of their stay.
The accommodation includes a large bedroom with its own small, private shower room/loo and kitchenette.
When you close the basement door behind you, you are self-contained and private.
All permanent residents of the house are fully vaccinated and boostered.
The accommodation is deep cleaned, disinfected and fully ventilated between guests.
The kitchenette has a fridge, sink, microwave, kettle and toaster but no oven or hob. There are two electric, plug-in cooking pots.
Beds in the bedroom can be configured to sleep up to four people.
They can be arranged together for a couple, separately as twins or as lower single beds for up to four individuals.
The room sleeps up to three people comfortably - four is a bit of a squeeze and is offered really as a budget option for short periods of time.
Please note access to the room is via a steep staircase.
There is no TV but the Wi-Fi is good and guests usually bring their own laptops or iPads etc with them.
Please be aware that we are now asking guests to make payment on arrival. This is because our hours are very different to those of our theatre guests and we sometimes do not see them for the duration of their stay. Upfront payment avoids an embarrassing situation for everyone.
Ideally we ask guests to arrive from 4pm and leave by 10am as we work full-time and have to clean the room between bookings. We can sometimes be more flexible at weekends, however, so do ask us. We can also sometimes take luggage in earlier if that is helpful and let you hang on to the parking permit after checking out if the next guest does not require it.
Because we are so close to the city, parking can be complicated. Please contact us to discuss this.

Their basement room was pretty much a self contained flat. Very clean, quiet and convenient.
I slept so well. Looking forward to staying again when I next visit Norwich :-)

Really short walk to the theatre. Great to have your own space replete with bathroom and kitchen. House very quiet during the day as well, which is great if you've worked a late show. (I came down with a migraine during my stay and so glad to have my own private, quiet spare t... read more o recover before the evening show).
Hosts are fantastic. Excellent and friendly communication and organised parking for me so I didn't have to move my car all week.

It's a shame there's not at least a hob but with a bit of imagination we ate well every eve. We certainly didn't feel too cramped space wise.
Landlady is absolutely lovely too, very thoughtful.

Very clean.The kitchen and bathroom are modern and well thought out.
As the description says, there is a microwave, kettle and toaster but no hob, so you... read more can't do "proper" cooking but that was fine for me.
Abby is a very thoughtful host, she left different teas, filter coffee and biscuits in the kitchen (very nice touch!) and changed the towels every couple of days.
The room is simply furnished, there is one armchair....it could be improved by adding a small table and 2 chairs to eat at.
I think it is a little on the expensive side for what it is but I would stay there again as it was great having a self-contained space, and I'm happy to recommend it.
10-15 mins walk to Theatre Royal.

The bedroom/sitting room is cosy, the bed was very comfortable, the kitchen is new and well-equipped, so too is the modern bathroom.
The accommodation was clean, neat and well-presented.
The Theatre Roya... read more l /Intu Chapelfield was about a 10-minute walk away which made it extremely convenient.
I recommend this to anyone requiring digs in Norwich.
